About Dr. Richard P. Rusin
Dr. Rusin is a Lead Product Development Specialist in the 3M Oral Care R&D Lab at 3M Center in Minnesota. He holds a BS in Materials Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MS and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Northwestern University. After graduation in 1992, he started at 3M in the Dental Products Division.
His research interests include materials for dental CAD/CAM, nanocomposites, calcium phosphate ceramics, dental remineralization, mechanical behavior, and resin-modified glass ionomers.
He has contributed to the development of numerous dental products, including Clinpro 5000 and Tooth Crème toothpastes, Vanish XT Extended Contact Varnish, Vitrebond Plus RMGI liner/base, Lava Ultimate CAD/CAM Restorative, Paradigm MZ100 composite block, and Clarity SL orthodontic brackets. He is an inventor on over 30 US patents, coauthor of numerous meeting abstracts and articles, and editor of several volumes in the Ceramics Transactions series. Rich lives in Woodbury with his dog Spike; he enjoys bicycling, guitar, cooking, and birdwatching.
