About Dr. Riaan Mulder
Dr. Riaan Mulder qualified as a dentist in 2007, obtaining his BChD from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). He holds a Master’s degree in restorative dentistry and a PhD in Paediatric Dentistry, research focus Glass Ionomers.
Riaan worked in private practice for several years prior to moving to UWC in 2014, working in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry for several years before joining Prosthetic Dentistry in 2019. His treatment interest therefore spans the treatment of paediatric, special need, and geriatric patients.
He takes a keen interest in research with an extensive portfolio of national and international articles. Current research focuses on various dental devices to improve patient care by reducing aerosol generation in dental surgery, simplifying dental procedures, and ensuring repeatability of the performed procedure.
