A 45-year-old male patient presented with initial proximal caries on the upper-left central and lateral incisors. The caries were a result of poor plaque control and food impaction due to a light proximal contact.
The challenge in the case was to restore adjacent proximal lesions and to create a longer and broader contact to minimize future food impaction.

Partial excavation to demonstrate presence of caries at DEJ of tooth #9 (21).
Caries and biofilm removal with rotary instruments followed by air abrasion to remove plaque and biofilm.
Placement of Bioclear™ anatomical matrices. Note the proximal contours created by the matrices.
15-second total-etch technique with 3M™ Scotchbond™ Universal Etchant was used on both enamel and dentin.
3M™ Scotchbond™ Universal Plus Adhesive was placed, rubbed for 20 seconds, air dried for 5 seconds, and cured through the clear anatomical matrix.
3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable Restorative was injected into tooth #9 (21) and cured through the matrix on both palatal and facial surfaces.
After matrix removal. The matrix on tooth #10 (22) expanded to create a more broad and dense contact.
