Using 3M™ Scotchbond™ Universal Plus Adhesive, 3M™ Elipar™ DeepCure-S LED Curing Light, 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable Restorative, 3M™ Filtek™ One Bulk Fill Restorative and 3M™ Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System.
The Patient presented with a failing amalgam restoration that exhibited open margins, stain and recurrent decay. Patient complained of sensitivity to cold and biting. The treatment plan consisted of an MOB direct composite.
The restorations were completed using total etch procedure, and 3M™ Scotchbond ™ Universal Plus Adhesive and 3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable and 3M™ Filtek™ One Bulk Fill Restoratives, shade A1 using a ‘Snow Plow” technique using 3M™ Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing System.
Initial presentation of the failing amalgam restoration.
After rubber dam placement, the amalgam restoration was removed, and the MOB preparation was completed.
A sectional matrix system was utilized and 37% phosphoric acid etch gel was then applied using total etch technique for 10 seconds, then rinsed completely with water.
3M™ Scotchbond™ Universal Plus Adhesive was applied and agitated for 20 seconds, air-dried for 5 seconds or until adhesive doesn’t move any more, and light cured for 10 seconds.
3M™ Filtek™ Supreme Flowable shade A2 was placed without curing, 3M™ Filtek™ One Bulk Fill Restorative, shade A1 was placed over the “uncured” flowable, using a “Snow Plow” technique.
Occlusal curing followed by lateral curing (Buccal and lingual) was performed for 10 seconds each. 3M™ Elipar™ DeepCure-S LED Curing Light
Initial rotary contouring after curing using red stripe diamond football and flame diamond burs.
Polishing using beige 3M™ Sof-Lex™ Pre-Polishing Spirals (Beige) under water spray.
Final polishing using 3M™ Sof-Lex™ Diamond Polishing Spirals (Pink).
Final completed restoration.
