Clinical Case: An aesthetic solution for anterior traumatized teeth

Using Protemp™ 3 Temporization Material, RelyX™ Fiber Post, RelyX™ Unicem Self-Adhesive Universal Resin Cement, and Aplicap™ Capsules.

About the Case

A young male presented at the office with a traumatic injury of teeth 11 and 21. In order to optimize aesthetics and function, the placement of Lava™ Zirconia restorations was requested by the patient. Initial management included placement of emergency composite restorations on 11 and 21, and later root canal treatment of 21 (Fig. 1).

Initial situation: 11 and 21 with emergency restorations.

After completion of the endodontic treatment, both teeth are prepared for placement of the Lava Zirconia restorations. In addition, tooth 21 is prepared for a post and core.

For the provisional crowns, Protemp™ 3 Temporization Material and ParaPost®XP™ Titanium Temporary Post (Coltène/Whaledent) are used.

The final post is placed and the core build-up done by the ceramist using a RelyX™ Fiber Post and ParaPost® ParaCore® dual cure core and resin cement (Coltène/Whaledent).

The Lava zirconia copings are designed with the Lava™ Design Software and the all-ceramic copings are milled by a Lava™ Milling Center. After dyeing and sintering, final porcelain finishing is achieved.

Subsequently, the restorations are tried in and cemented with RelyX™ Unicem Self-Adhesive Universal Resin Cement. The elongation tip available for Aplicap™ Capsules ensures optimum placement of the cement, even inside a root canal.

The final restorations are harmonically integrated into the overall appearance.
