New technologies are changing the therapeutical options to do indirect restorations and new adhesive systems are continuously introduced to be used by clinicians. Different interactions between restorations, adhesive systems components, enamel and dentin require having certain criteria for selection of the adhesive system, thus ensuring the longevity of the restorations and the preservation of the biological remnant.
Dental destructions are accompanied by a reduction of tooth stability, a decrease of fracture resistance, and an increase in deflection of weakened cusps. The choice between a direct or an indirect restorative technique, mainly in posterior areas, is a challenge, and involves biomechanical, anatomical, functional, esthetic, and financial considerations.
Even so, indirect adhesive solutions represent an increasingly used restorative option in the rehabilitation of vital and non-vital teeth. Nowadays, the modern adhesive systems allow a minimally invasive approach both for vital and endodontically treated teeth, with the purpose of preserving tooth tissues and protecting dental health, while simultaneously restoring esthetic and function.
The lecture will include the clinical procedures described step by step, together with clinical examples of different situations.
